I get an "Request timed out" error when accessing my feed in my browser

This is the most common error our users have to deal with. We cannot really prevent it because of technical reasons. But it can be fixed!

The reasons for this error is that the feed is too large for Shopify to handle within a single request.

We rely on Shopify's infrastructure to render the feed. When the load get's to heavy their server will respond with an Request timed out or Liquid error: Memory limits exceeded error message.

This can be the case if you shop has a lot of product variants.

You have several options

  1. Splitting your feed into multiple feed pages (This is a paid feature).
  2. Exclude product variants. This can help reduce the feed size but only up to a certain size
  3. Splitting your catalog up into multiple feeds with smaller collections.
